A Dinghy Named Duchess

Why I named my dinghy “DuchesS”
It was a no-brainer!
You see, Duchess was the name of my Grandmother’s German Shepherd - or should I say, the names of her German Shepherds! When one would pass, the next one was named, you got it, Duchess!
Now, the first dog I ever remember her having wasn’t a German Shepherd, and she wasn’t named Duchess. It was a Dalmatian named Tracy. But soon after Tracy passed, along came Duchess #1.
As a little kid, we’d arrive at Mom Mary’s house, and Duchess would come running and jump up on everybody. For me, it was the highlight of arriving at her home!

What is a Dinghy?
When you live on a boat, you won’t always be at a dock or pier. Sometimes, you’re just out on anchor (on the hook) in a bay, off the coast, in a river, etc. In those cases, you need a way to get from your boat to shore to see the sights, do laundry, go grocery shopping, etc. A dinghy comes in handy in these cases.
A dinghy is a small boat used as a tender to transport people and supplies to/from a larger vessel. It helps sailors explore shorelines, navigate shallow waters, and engage in activities like fishing and watersports. My dinghy is powered by oars and an outboard motor.
The methods of transporting/storing a dinghy vary; you can tow it behind the leading boat, hoist it on board and secure it, or utilize davits as miniature cranes to lift the dinghy out of the water and fasten it.
Think of it this way:
My sailboat is my home on the water!
My dinghy is my car on the water!
